Ventolin Rotacaps

Product Name: Ventolin Rotacaps
Indication
Treatment and prevention of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (chronic bronchitis and emphysema). Ventolin Rotacaps are useful in patients who are unable to use standard inhalers or are sensitive to freon propellants eg. young children.
Action
Salbutamol relieves asthma by relaxing muscles within the airways (bronchodilation) making it easier to breath.
Dose advice
The medicine is a very fine powder mixed with lactose (which contains milk protein). Each capsule contains the equivalent of 200 micrograms of salbutamol. Ventolin Rotacaps are used in a plastic device called a Ventolin Rotahaler®. Do not swallow your Ventolin Rotacaps.
Adults (>12 years):
- 1-2 capsules inhaled 3-4 times a day. Maximum of 12 Rotacaps per 24hrs.
Children:
- 1 capsule inhaled 3-4 times a day. Maximum of 6 Rotacaps per 24hrs.
Notify doctor if symptoms do not dissipate upon use of inhaler, if symptoms reappear within 3 hours of use or if inhaler is being used in increasing amounts.

- sensation of warmth
- cardiac arrhythmias
- muscle cramps
- allergic reactions
- mouth and throat irritation with inhaled salbutamol.
