Public urged to think about psychology benefits
The Northern Territory Branch of the Australian Psychological Society says National Psychology Week aims to raise awareness in the community of the benefits of seeking professional help.
The Northern Territory Branch of the Australian Psychological Society says National Psychology Week aims to raise awareness in the community of the benefits of seeking professional help.The society’s Dr Shirley Morrissey says the theme of this year’s week is “Good Thinking”.Dr Morrissey says talking to a psychologist can help improve a person’s wellbeing.”Many people think that seeing a psychologist is only if you’ve got very severe problems when, in fact, psychologists can help people with a wide range of difficulties, including general stress problems in coping, relationship difficulties, as well as problems like anxiety disorders, depression,” she said.(Source: Australian Psychological Society: ABC News: June 2004)
