Merck Says It Acted ‘Responsibly’ Making Vioxx

Drug maker Merck & Co. Inc. said on Friday it acted “responsibly and appropriately” in developing and marketing recently recalled arthritis drug Vioxx.

The company, which is based in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, issued a statement after it was informed that some documents on pending Vioxx litigation had been made public.
