The World Health Organisation’s Influenza centre says Melbourne is experiencing the worst outbreak for five years. The centre’s deputy director Allan Hampson says there has been a severe outbreak right across Australia.”Soldiering on is a bad thing and you are not doing yourself any favours or your workmates,” he said.”It really is a serious illness and if you go to the chemist and buy non-prescription items that will make you feel better, that’s fine, providing you go home and just rest until you’ve overcome the illness.”Mr Hampson says the outbreak appears to have started on the Mornington peninsula.(Source: ABC, 15 September 2003)
