Japan probes second reported bird flu case Japanese officials are investigating a possible second outbreak of bird flu in the south-west of the country. The first case of bird flu was reported at a poultry farm where 35,000 birds have either died or were culled because of the virus. The Government had been preparing to declare the country free of bird flu later this week. The avian flu has struck 10 countries in Asia and has killed at least 20 people in Vietnam and Thailand.
