Investigation into ‘Alternative Cancer Cures’ over the internet

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

An interesting investigation into ‘Alternative Cancer Cures’ available on the internet has raised the issue of whether or not patients are at risk of receiving hazardous and harmful advice.

Ernst and Schmidt from the Department of Complimentary Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Exeter, UK investigated a number of websites offering alternative treatments for cancer. These websites were evaluated and rated on a scale of 0 – 14.

What they found was astounding with some sites overtly discouraging cancer patients to employ conventional therapies.

It has been documented that this information has brought considerable harm, even death, to some cancer patients. The researchers question whether some of these prominent websites are putting these patients at risk.
