Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Northern Territory yesterday morning announced its first case of human swine flu. This means all Australian States and Territories now have at least one confirmed case.

The Northern Territory case is a woman who flew into Darwin from Melbourne on Friday morning. She visited a GP surgery later on Friday and later the Royal Darwin Hospital for pathology testing – on both occasions she wore a mask.
She is now in home isolation and has mild flu-like symptoms. Her close contacts in Darwin remain well and are also in home quarantine.

This brings the total of confirmed human swine influenza cases in Australia as at 0600 AEST today to 255.

The breakdown is: ACT 4, NSW 54, SA 6, Qld 15, Tas 1, Vic 173, WA 1, NT 1
