Professor Michael Richards will be the plenary speaker on this topic at the COSA 30th annual scientific meeting to be held in Perth from November 25-28.

He comes as the Chairman of the committee asked to track the progress of the UK Cancer Plan (http://www.doh.gov.uk/cancer/cancerplan.htm) which was published in September 2000 and which committed nearly one billion GBP over 3 years to improving cancer outcomes in the UK. Prof Richards brings a wealth of experience in this important area that will be of direct relevance to Australian reforms in optimizing cancer care. There will be two major sessions on this topic, which will include plenary presentations, proffered papers and panel discussion. Dr Liz Kenny (President of COSA) and Prof Paul Harnett (Co-Chair responsible for overseeing the development of A Clinical Service Framework for Optimising Cancer care in NSW) will follow Prof Richards and present national and state initiatives aimed at improving delivery of cancer services, and will facilitate an open discussion to follow. If you would like to register for the COSA 30th Annual Scientific Meeting or find out more details, please go to www.cosa.org.au.
