Educational Internet Videos Now Available to Improve Compliance with Celebrex

The Virtual Medical Centre is pleased to announce that it now hosts a series of educational videos aimed at informing patients about the benefits, and responsibilities, of being on Celebrex. It is not an advertising tool, but rather a method for conveying to patients the reasons for being on Celebrex, helping with education and compliance in general practices, which are increasingly time-poor.

The videos, made with sponsorship from Pfizer, are a series of anecdotal accounts from patients who have used Celebrex with discussion about the impact that the medication has had on their life. The videos do not make recommendations aimed at a professional audience, but rather would be ideal for educating patients who have been placed on Celebrex about the advantages of the medication, and the reasons for its use. This form of information delivery could be very helpful in encouraging patients to remain compliant with treatment, helping them to see the advantages that taking medication for pain management can have.The videos take the form of interviews conducted with three patients who have been placed on Celebrex for pain relief of arthritis, and shows the changes that taking the medication has had on their life. The anecdotal style of presentation would help patients to see the rationale for treatment on a more personal level, showing them the benefits it has had on others and thus may hopefully have on them. The videos also have a brief discussion about how the medication should be taken and the information that patients should divulge to their doctors. It gives instructions to follow the doctors’ advice, rather than take it as they think it should be taken, as well as making sure they mention all other medications including over-the-counter ones. This series of videos could be a very useful tool for encouraging patients placed on Celebrex to be compliant with their medication.
