Do you have pain beneath the heel?
If so, you may be eligible to participate in research at La Trobe University. The aim of the research is to compare the effect of an anti-inflammatory injection with a saline (placebo) injection for relief of pain due to plantar fasciitis.
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of pain beneath the heel, and while the majority of people with this condition become symptom free over time, a range of treatments are available to provide interim pain relief. Participation in the research will involve attending 5 appointments at the La Trobe University Podiatry Clinic. Research participants will be assessed by a registered podiatrist, including examination with medical ultrasound to reach a diagnosis. All assessments and treatments will be provided free of charge.
To participate in this study you will need to:
- Be between 18 and 80 years of age
- Have had pain beneath the heel for at least 8 weeks
- Not have started a treatment for heel pain in the last 4 weeks
If you are interested in being involved in this research, please contact Andrew McMillan from the Department of Podiatry, La Trobe University by either phone: 03 9479 5785 or email: a.mcmillan@latrobe.edu.au
