Indication

Sulindac is used to relieve pain and inflammation in the following conditions
Osteoarthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Ankylosing spondylitis
Gout
Other conditions where pain is due to inflammation

Action

Sulindac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs relieve pain and inflammation by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which have an important involvement in the production of inflammation, pain and fever in the body

The effects of Sulindac last for a long period of time which means it only has to be given once or twice a day to be effective

Dose advice

The usual daily dose ranges from 200 to 400 mg/day and may be given once daily or in two divided doses.
If taken once daily, Sulindac should be taken in the evening.
Doses greater than 400 mg/day are not recommended.
In cases of acute gouty arthritis treatment will usually last for seven days
