Anxiety disorders

Action

Partial agonist at serotonin 5HT1A receptors

Dose advice

Initially 5mg 3 times daily, increase by 5mg every 2-3 days until optimal response achieved

Usual range: 20-30mg daily in 2-3 divided doses

Maximum: 60mg daily. Elderly 30mg daily.

Severe renal impairment: May need to reduce dose by up to half
