About the Fibromyalgia Support Network (WA)
The Fibromyalgia Support Network is a non-profit organisation that has been established to provide support to people affected by fibromyalgia throughout the Perth metropolitan area. Fibromyalgia is a complex chronic pain condition that challenges both patients and healthcare professionals. The main aim of the Fibromyalgia Support Network is to provide information and support for fibromyalgia patients to encourage the self-management of their symptoms and to increase public awareness and understanding of this condition.
Programs and Services
Programs and services provided include:
- Support and networking – monthly support group meetings as well as informal coffee mornings to provide an opportunity for people affected by fibromyalgia to meet and share their experiences.
- Education – monthly educational meetings are held for the purposes of helping people to understand and manage their condition.
- Information – a newsletter is produced monthly and includes details of local community activities such as walking programs, or education courses relevant to fibromyalgia patients.
- Advocacy – representation at various health expos to raise awareness of fibromyalgia among the public and health professionals
