Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Generic Name: Red clover isoflavones (biochanin A, formononetin, genistein, daidzein)
Product Name: Promensil Menopause

Indication of Promensil Menopause

Promensil is a dietary supplement based on natural isoflavones extracted from red clover. It may be used by women going through menopause to relieve menopausal symptoms, especially the frequency and severity of hot flushes and night sweats.

There is also a Double Strength product available.

Your doctor will be able to advise if this product is suitable for you.

Action of Promensil Menopause

Studies have shown that in cultures that have diets with an abundance of isoflavones (a type of phyto-oestrogen), fewer menopausal symptoms are experienced by women.

Isoflavones, the active ingredient in Promensil, are naturally occurring plant oestrogens found mainly in legumes such as red clover, chickpeas, beans and lentils. Promensil is made specifically from red clover which contains all four principal types of dietary isoflavones, unlike many other legumes. The isoflavones in Promensil can complement the body’s own oestrogen levels, which typically decline around menopause, and through this may help reduce menopause symptoms.

Dose advice of Promensil Menopause

Dose information

The recommended dose is one Promensil tablet per day. Each tablet contains 40 mg of the active ingredient, isoflavone phyto-oestrogen. This dose produces similar isoflavone levels to those found in populations consuming high isoflavone diets.

There is also a higher dose available (Promensil Menopause Double Strength), as well as a formulation that contains calcium and vitamin D (Promensil Vitality).

Your doctor will be able to determine which formulation is best for you. Always read the label. If you have any queries about the correct way to use Promensil, please ask your doctor. Individual results may vary.
