World Hypertension Day: Thursday 17 May 2018
Help Stroke Foundation halve the number of strokes in Australia by simply having a blood pressure check #fightstroke.
Stroke Foundation is encouraging Australians to mark World Hypertension Day this Thursday, May 17, by putting aside five minutes for a blood pressure check with their local GP, pharmacist or via a digital health machine.
World Hypertension Day also kicks off this year’s “Australia’s Biggest Blood Pressure Check” campaign, focusing on stroke prevention.
Why should you care?
- Millions of Australians are living with hypertension, otherwise known as high blood pressure, putting themselves at serious and unnecessary risk of stroke.
- Stroke kills more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer, yet it is largely preventable.
- More than 56,000 strokes will be suffered by residents in Australia this year. We could save tens of thousands of Australians from stroke with a simple blood pressure check
