At least 10 cases of Ross River Virus are being reported each day to Western Australia’s Health Department.People visiting the south-west have again been warned to take precautions against the mosquito-borne disease.Health Department spokeswoman Sue Harrington says since July there have been almost 300 cases of the virus reported, with more than three-quarters of them in the south-west of the State. She says the number of cases has increased significantly.”More like about 10 to 15 a day notified to the Department,” she said.Ms Harrington says if there is more summer rain, the number of cases could be worse than 1999-2000 when 900 people were infected(Source: ABC News, Jan 2004)
