SARS suspect in stable condition
Health authorities are still conducting tests on a 66-year-old man in the Gold Coast Hospital who they suspect could have Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Health authorities are still conducting tests on a 66-year-old man in the Gold Coast Hospital who they suspect could have Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).The man is in an isolation unit and his close contacts have been cleared of symptoms.Dr Margaret Young from Queensland Health’s Communicable Disease Unit says he is in a serious but stable condition and there could be other explanations for his illness.”There are many well-known causes of fever and respiratory infection including common infections such as influenza or other causes of pneumonia, viruses and other tropical illnesses that may be caught overseas,” she said.(Source: ABC Online; Tuesday, May 13, 2003. 8:00am (AEST))
