Indication
Treatment and prevention of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (chronic bronchitis and emphysema). Ventolin Diskus are useful in patients who are unable to use standard inhalers or are sensitive to freon propellants.
Action
Salbutamol relieves asthma by relaxing muscles within the airways (bronchodilation) making it easier to breath.
Dose advice
Ventolin Diskus inhalation powder is a disposable blue-coloured plastic inhaler device containing a foil strip with 60 blisters. Each blister contains 200 mcg of the active ingredient salbutamol sulphate and lactose which acts as the ‘carrier’.
Adults and Children >4 years:
- one inhalation (200mcg) when required
Unless your doctor has recommended otherwise, the total daily dose for adults and children (4 years and older) should not exceed 4 inhalations (800 mcg).
