Indication
Travacalm HO is used for prevention of motion sickness due to sea, air, motor vehicle or train travel.
Action
Hyoscine hydrobromide has strong anticholinergic effects. It is recognised as one of the most effective agents in the prevention and treatment of travel sickness.
Dose advice
Dose information:
- Travacalm HO tablets may be taken with or without food.
- Travacalm HO tablets may be crushed and mixed with water, jam or honey before giving to children or those with swallowing difficulties.
- Travacalm HO should be taken 30 minutes before departure.
- Travacalm HO is most effective when use for prevention but may have some effectiveness once symptoms are present.
- Travacalm HO may cause drowsiness. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machineries as your alertness may be compromised.
- Avoid drinking alcohol or other medications that may potentiate the sedating effects of Travacalm HO.
Contraindications:
Travacalm HO should not be used
- if you have known allergy to active ingredients of Travacalm HO, hyoscine hydrobromide
- if you are lactose intolerant
Precautions:
You must tell your doctor if you
- are taking any other medicines, including those that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food store
- intend to give Travacalm HO to anyone under 8 years old
- are pregnant
- are breasfeeding or intend to breastfeed
Use in pregnancy (Category B2):
Despite it is consider safe to use Travacal HO during pregnancy, you should check with your doctor before using Travacalm HO.
Lactation:
Small amounts of Travacalm HO active ingredients are excreted in breast milk. Travacalm HO should not be given to breastfeeding mothers unless the benefits of therapy outweigh the potential risks.

Common side effects
All medicines have side effects. Most commonly the side effects are minor, however some can be more serious. One of the common side effects (1% occurrence) of Travacalm HO occur is dizziness. However, if you experience any other abnormal syptoms and they worry you, you should see your doctor.
