Indication

Zidovudine (Retrovir Capsules and Syrup) is used in patients for the treatment of HIV infection, including pregnant women to prevent transmission to neonates. It is also used to as a preventative measure protecting patients exposed to HIV.

Action

Retrovir works by preventing HIV replication.

Dose advice

The recommended dose for Retrovir is two 250mg capsules twice daily. Retrovir is also available in liquid formulation.
