Indication
Ketoprofen has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. It also inhibits prostaglandin synthetase, an inflammatory mediator. Ketoprofen reduces joint pain and inflammation and facilitates increase in mobility and functional independence. As with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, it does not cure the underlying disease. In general, as with other NSAIDs, Ketoprofen should not be administered to patients with active peptic ulcer.Patients prone to gastrointestinal tract irritation or with a history of peptic ulcer or diverticulosis should be closely supervised. Serious gastrointestinal adverse reactions can occur at any time in patients taking NSAIDs.
