Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Generic Name: Aluminium hydroxide; Magnesium hydroxide; Simethicone
Product Name: Mucaine 2 in 1

Indication

Temporary relief from the symptoms of indigestion, upset stomach, heartburn, dyspepsia, acidity, flatulence and wind pain.

Action

Mucaine 2 in 1 is so named because it has two active components. The Aluminium and Magnesium hydroxide components act as antacids, and react with stomach acid to neutralise it.
Simethicone is a drug that gets rid of gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines, which may have formed due to the reaction of the antacids with the stomach acid.

– 10 to 20ml four times daily

Common side effects

Antacids containing Magnesium may cause diarrhoea. Antacids containing Aluminium may cause constipation. It is hoped that, in Mucaine 2 in 1, the two effects will balance each other out and not cause any bowel-related side effects.
