Dose advice
Methylphenidate should be used cautiously in patients with hypertension. Blood pressure should be monitored at appropriate intervals in all patients taking methylphenidate, especially in those with hypertension. Methylphenidate is a sympathomimetic amine which can cause the release of noradrenaline from the sympathetic neurons leading to an increase in blood pressure.
