Indication

Benadryl for the family chesty forte syrup treats productive coughs by loosening and clearing phlegm and mucus.

Action

Two active ingredients within Benadryl family chesty forte loosen and clear phlegm and mucus within the lungs and respiratory tract.

Guaifenesin
-Helps by making mucus and phelgm thinner and more viscous (liquid-like).
Bromhexine
â??Breaks down thick mucus making it easier to clear.

Dose advice

-Adults (>12 years) -10 -15 mL every 6 hours
-Children (6-12 years) â?? 5-7.5 mL every 6 hours
-Children (2-5 years) â?? 2.5-5 mL every 6 hours
-Not for children under 2 years of age.
-Avoid if previous reactions to bromhexine or guaifenesin.
-Consult your doctor if :
-cough persists beyond 7 days or is accompanied by other symptoms such as high fever, rash or persistent headaches
-suffer from peptic ulcer disease
-Are breast feeding
-Seek appropriate medical advice if uncertain.

Uncommon side effects

May cause dizziness, diarrhoea, headache, sweating, indigestion
Allergic reactions are very rare and may occur as a skin rash.
