Astrix 100 Capsules

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Generic Name: Aspirin
Product Name: Astrix 100 Capsules

Aspirin is used as prophylaxis for and in the treatment of transient ischaemic attacks, ischaemic stroke and other thromboembolic disorders. It is also used in conjunction with other anticoagulant drugs to reduce the risk of systemic embolism or vascular death in post-surgical patients who have undergone heart valve replacement.

Aspirin inhibits the activity of an enzyme called cyclo-oxygenase, which is responsible for the formation of thromboxane. Thromboxane is found on circulating platelets in the bloodstream and causes platelets to group together and from blood clots so by blocking thromboxane synthesis, aspirin reduces the formation of blood clots.
